Trim Levels (Exterior)

You get several options for trim levels with the F-250. The base model is the XL, and it also comes in the XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited. Depending on the trim, the F-250 can have 17-inch steel wheels or 18-inch alloy wheels. Some other exterior features include LED lighting in the bed, a built-in tailgate step, an 8-foot bed, a damped tailgate, and manually telescoping side mirrors.

Engine (Power)

The F-250 may have one of several different engines. If you find a 6.2-liter gas V-8 under the hood, it gets 385 horsepower, and if you find a model with a turbo 6.7-liter diesel, it generates 450 horsepower in later models and 440 horsepower in older models. A six-speed automatic transmission works with both engines, and you can find this truck with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

Performance

When equipped with a tow package, the F-250 offers impressive towing and hauling capabilities. It can handle up to 18,000 pounds with a conventional hitch, and with a fifth-wheel gooseneck, it can tow up to 18,600 pounds. An F-250 with the regular cab and rear-wheel drive will carry up to 4,200 pounds in the bed, and if you have four-wheel drive and the crew cab with a smaller bed, it can haul 3,450 pounds.

Interior

There's room for up to six people in the F-250, depending on the cab size. If you have the base XL trim, it comes with vinyl upholstery, but higher-end models upgrade this to cloth and leather. Power-adjustable front seats are another convenience feature available with this truck, and you can get it with power-adjustable pedals, a heated steering wheel, heated seats, and driver's seat memory settings. Technology and infotainment systems come a long way in recent years, and the F-250 offers a wide range of tech features. Ford's SYNC infotainment system comes with the 2019 models, but you can also get the updated SYNC 3 in later model years. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come with most trims, along with a Wi-Fi hotspot, USB ports, and an 8-inch touchscreen.

Safety Features

Later model Ford F-250 trucks come standard with a rearview camera, and depending on the model year, a variety of driver-assist features are either available or standard. These can include forward collision warning, automatic braking, automatic high beam headlights, and rear parking sensors. A 360-degree surround-view camera system is also available, and some model years and trims have a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, active park assist, lane-keep assist, and lane-departure warning. Ford's MyKey feature is also available and allows primary drivers to set parameters for young or secondary drivers.
