Tex-Mex is a combination of Mexican, Spanish, and American cuisine and can be found across the United States. These foods offer a unique flavor, thanks to the many spices used when preparing them. Whether you’re new to the area, visiting us on vacation, or a long-time resident looking for a new restaurant, here are three tasty Tex-Mex restaurants in Tyler, Texas.

1. Manny’s Tex-Mex Cafe

With an extensive menu, you’re sure to find the flavors you crave at Manny’s Tex-Mex Cafe. Start your meal off with their famous homemade guacamole and chips. Check out the Charbroiled Bacon-Wrapped Quail served with whole beans, rice, and mixed greens. For the truly adventurous, you can also stuff them with jalapenos for even more flavor. Another favorite is the Pechuga or Steak Relleno, which offers your choice of chicken breast or steak stuffed with mushrooms, poblano peppers, and red onion that have been sauteed in garlic butter and wine sauce.

If you can’t decide on what you want, Manny’s offers great combination plates. Try the Reynosa Plate, with two pork tamales and two cheese and onion enchiladas, topped with chili con carne and melted cheddar cheese. Or, order up the Combination Plate with one soft cheese taco, one crunchy beef taco, and one cheese and onion enchilada topped with chili con carne. 2. Posados

For over 30 years, Posados has been serving delicious Tex-Mex cuisine to the people of Texas, with two convenient locations right in Tyler. A must-taste is the Elote, or Mexican Street Corn, from their appetizer menu. This roasted corn is topped with Mexican butter, cotija cheese, mayo, and chili spice and is a traditional Mexican treat. Be sure to try their Flautas with seasoned chicken or beef and your choice of sauce on top. A unique dish at Posados is their Puffy Tacos, offered with either chicken or beef.

Try the Cancun, with a choice of soft beef or chicken fajita taco, along with a cheese enchilada and chili relleno with your choice of chicken, beef, or cheese. All dishes are served with your choice of cilantro-lime rice or Mexican rice, along with your choice of refried beans, Baja black beans, charro beans, sauteed vegetables, or tortilla soup. You can find Posados at 2500 E. Fifth St. and 3040 W. Gentry Park in Tyler.

3. Cantina Laredo

Serving modern Mexico food, the Cantina Laredo is sure to spice up your mealtime. Start with the Queso Laredo, a delicious queso dip with seared ground sirloin and pico de gallo. The Tostada Dinner offers two crispy tostadas with your choice of chicken or beef, topped with beans, cheese, lettuce, and tomato, and served with refried beans and Mexican rice. Another great taste is the Carne Asada. This is a fire-charred skirt steak served with chimichurri sauce, avocado, black beans, lime-marinated onions, and cilantro-lime sauce.
